CLIMATE
India is a huge country, no wonder then, that the climatic conditions in the north are completely different from these, which can be found in the south of the country. When it's hot in the lowlands, the people of Ladakh are waiting eagerly, until the snow melts on the mountain passes.

In India, there are basically only three seasons of the year: hot, dry and cool. Tourists wishing to explore the south or central part of India should come here in winter (XI — II), if they go north, best, if they visit these areas in late spring or summer, that is from April to August (Look: climate tables).
The hot season
The heat in the Hindustan Plain begins gradually from February, while in April and May they are already very intense. Temperatures in the central part of the country reach 45 ° C, and even above – in July in 1994 R. almost 50 ° C was recorded in Delhi! The air is then dense and dry, so that everything can be seen as through a fog.
In May, you can already feel the first signs of the impending monsoon – the air becomes moist, short-term downpours and storms appear, strong winds are blowing, lifting clouds of dust. The heat and humidity have a very negative effect on the well-being of tourists, who often complain of fatigue, weakness and states of nervous restlessness.
The onset of the first heat wave is a sign, it's time to go to the mountains, preferably to Kashmir, Kulu valley, Himalayan resorts or Sikki-mu. Mountain resorts located a bit further to the south, e.g. Mt Abu in Rajasthan, Matheran in Maharashtra, Uti and Kodajka-nal in Tamilnada, are not located, Although, at high altitudes, but even there, high temperatures can already be avoided. In early June, the snow on the passes leading to Ladakh usually melts, so the roads there become passable. This time is favorable for trips and expeditions to the mountains in the northern areas.
Rainy season
A monsoon never comes suddenly. After a period of great heat, rains begin to fall in the south at the beginning of June, which are gradually moving north, so that at the beginning of July it is already raining all over India. Unfortunately, this rainfall does not cool you down, because the temperatures are still very high, and the dust on the road slowly turns into slushy mud. Yet people long for the rainy season to come, especially farmers, who then prepare the fields for sowing. It rains every day, however, it doesn't, that they are raining continuously. After heavy downpours there is brightening and a scorching sun comes out from behind the clouds.
The monsoons usually come from the southwest. From time to time, the south-east coast is also haunted by another monsoon, which brings rainfall lasting from mid-October to the end of December.
Some parts of India are amazingly beautiful during the rainy season. Rajasthan is one of them, with picturesque palaces on the shores of lakes. During this period, it is also worth going on a mountain trip to the northwest of India, especially since the season of expeditions to the Himalayas begins in Nepal only after the monsoon has subsided.
Rainy season, which enlivens life in this country, Unfortunately, it is also the cause of natural disasters, which many times have resulted in a great deal of human loss. Almost every year, massive floods leave thousands of Indians homeless, and flooding the roads from the banks of the river, railroad tracks and airports, which makes it much more difficult, and sometimes it even makes it impossible to travel around the country.
The season is cool
The withdrawal of the monsoon begins the most beautiful season in India in October. Lush vegetation, Short and rarer rains and moderate temperatures attract crowds of tourists here. The crystal clear mountain air is conducive to admiring the magnificent Himalayan peaks. In December and January, the nights in the north of the country are getting colder, and in some Indian towns, far to the north, e.g. in the Kulu Valley, there is a real harsh winter, a dream for skiing enthusiasts, who can practice their favorite sport there.
At the southern tip of the peninsula, where there is no cool season, there are slight drops in temperatures during this period. However, around February, the heat returns and the hot season begins very quickly.
