Delhi – accommodation, hotel

Old Delhi – Hotels in Old Delhi are situated on the southwest side of the Grand Mosque (Jam Masjid) and along Matya Mahal Street, running from the mosque to the south.

One of the best hotels is New City Palaces (*3729548), right behind the mosque. The front rooms have windows, from which you can hear morning calls for prayer. The hotel proudly describes itself as a "super comfortable place", but I think he's exaggerating a bit. He's clean, modern, polite management; double room with bathroom and hot water: 200 INR, with air conditioning: 300 INR. Hotel Bombay Orient (*3286253), Matya Mahal, near the south gate of the Great Mosque, it is also clean and tidy, moreover, it is located in a slightly quieter place; single / double with shared bathroom costs 75/150 INR, double with bathroom 200 INR, with air conditioning 300 INR. At the western end of Chandni Chowk (Chandni Chauk), there are several cheaper hotels around the Fatehpuri mosque. These are places for tourists, who are not bothered by the hustle and bustle of the street, and a good distance from the shopping center Connaught Place.

Hotel Bharat (*235326) it is located on the opposite side of the street that runs from the eastern gate of the mosque. It is located in an old building built without a specific plan. It has several small courtyards. The rooms are a bit dark, and bulbs with power 25 In unfortunately, do not improve the situation. Nevertheless, it is cheap here, nice and romantic; one/two: 80/120 INR.

Star Guest House, Katra Baryan 186, located at the south gate of the Fatehpuri mosque, across the street. It is definitely a newer hotel than Bharat, a bit dirty, though still bearable; rooms with shared bathroom: 80/140 INR.

Others In the Chanakjapuri district, on Circular Rd, Vishwa Yuvak Ken-dra is located (International Youth Center) (*3013631). The rooms are very good, although not very cheap; price with breakfast 340 INR; bed in a common room 50 INR. The self-service bar in the hostel has a good kitchen, low prices, got bad service. It takes a drive to Connaught Place 20 minutes by bus, a little shorter tutor rickshaw. There is a bus service from the Cinema Beach at Ćonnau-ght Place #620; get off at the Indonesian embassy. Who is commuting by bus #662 from Old Delhi Railway Station, get him off at the Ashok Hotel, right behind the Chinese embassy, near the Chanakjapuri police station.

Youth hostel (*3016285), Nyaya Marg 5, Akanakjapuri, it only accepts members of a youth hostel association, which, together with the not very convenient location, makes the place not very attractive; bed in a common room with breakfast: 25 INR.

At Old and New Delhi Railway Stations, you can stay in reti-ring rooms, where the prices are set for a 12-hour and a day stay. At the Old Delhi train station, a bed in a shared room costs money 25 INR, two 100 INR. It is very loud in here and - as easy to expect – falling asleep here is rather impossible. At the New Delhi train station, single / double with shared bathroom costs 150/250 INR, rooms with air conditioning: 210/500 INR.

Retiring rooms are also available at the Delhi airport, in the national section (Terminal I: *3295126) and international (Terminal II: *5452011) airports. You can stop here upon arrival, having a confirmed departure date by 24 Hours. It's worth calling in advance, because usually there are more people willing than there are places. Single / double rooms with air-conditioning in Terminal II 175/250 INR, at Terminal I: air-conditioned two 250 INR, ordinary 175 INR, shared bed, air-conditioned room 80 INR. You hear a lot at the airport information desk, that there are no vacancies in the retiring rooms. Probably the information worker gets a commission from the hotel, to which it directs travelers.
