High arcades, giving lightness to a squat structure, the onion-shaped dome and exquisite gardens exemplify the early Mughal style of architecture. These architectural elements have evolved over the years, to get the perfectly refined shape of the Taj Mahal in Agra. Early Humayun's Mausoleum, being a model for the Taj Mahal, arouses great interest. Within the complex, Humayun's wife also rests in a mausoleum made of red and white sandstone and yellow and black marble.
In the garden there is also the tomb of the imperial hairdresser and the tomb of Isa Khan, being a good example of the architecture of the Lodich dynasty. Admission: 0,50 INR, pt. Free entrance. From the terraces of the mausoleum, you can see the area well.

NIZAMUDDIN

On the other side of the road leading to Humayun's Mausoleum is the tomb of the saintly Sufi husband Nizam ad-Din Aulija, deceased in 1325 r. at the age of 92 years. The tomb of the Muslim mystic has a large reservoir filled with water. The construction of this reservoir sparked a dispute between Nizam ad-Din and the founder of Tughlakabad, a city even further south of Delhi (more information in the chapter Around Delhi under the heading Tuglilakabad). The tomb of Shah Dżahan's daughter is of interest, the princesses of Ja-Hanary, who accompanied her father imprisoned by Aurangzeb in the Red Fort of Agra. Amir Chusru is also buried here, a famous Persian poet residing at the court of Dehli; Atgah Khan, Humayun's favorite; and the son of the emperor, Ak-bar. Atgah Khan was murdered by Azam Khan in Agra. In answer, Akbar has dealt with Azam Khan, who was buried near Kutab Minaru.
It is best to come to the tomb of Nizam ad-Dina on Thursday, at sunset. It is a time of prayer. Immediately after the prayer, Muslim singers (kawwali) they start singing.

LODICH GARDENS

The gardens are located 3 km west of the Humajuna Mausoleum and adjacent to the India International Center. They are well kept; there are mausoleums of the Lodi and Sai-Yid dynasties. Muhammad Shah Lodi's Mausoleum (1450 r.) was the prototype of the Mughal tomb of Humayun, whose design took the perfect form in Tkj Mahal. They are also buried here: predecessor of Muhammad, Mubarak Shah Lodi (1433 r.) and Ibrahim Shah Lodi (1526 r.) and Sikan-der Shah Lodi (1517 r.). The stucco decoration typical of that period has been preserved on the walls of the Bara Gunibad mosque.

Soon followed the collapse of the already shaky Great Mogul state. Safdar Jang's Mausoleum stands on a high platform amid extensive gardens. Admission: 0,50 INR; pt. Free entrance.
